Fuel sheen was present on the water at Parley's Historic Nature Park ("Tanner dog park") and Sugar House Park, and fuel odors were noticeable at Hidden Hollow Park and near 900 East (but there has been no sheen observed at those latter two sites).

#ParleysCreek fuel spill thread 🧵

Following this morning’s I-80 fuel spill that impacted Parley’s Creek, health officials advise people and pets to stay out of potentially affected waterways until water sampling results are available.

Our environmental health scientists are at Sugar House Park and other sites potentially impacted by the fuel spill in Parley's Canyon. We will continue to monitor area waterways and respond as necessary, along with @SLCPU, @slcfire, @FireAuthority, and other partners.

SLCFD is on scene of a fuel spill into Parleys Creek. We have units at Tanner Park as well as Sugarhouse Park working to mitigate the incident. PIO is on scene. Media staging will be at Sugarhouse Park. Please keep your animals out of Parleys Creek for the foreseeable future.

With so many scams going around today, it's hard to know what is true and what is not. Take some time out of your day to join the Cottonwood Heights Police Department on Sat. May 18 and Thurs. June 20 to learn more about how scammers will try to hit some of our citizens.

Say goodbye to the spring warmth in favor of spring showers for a few days. Thursday will bring scattered showers and more seasonable temperatures followed by below normal temperatures Friday and Saturday with a period of more steady precipitation and high elevation snow.

❗❗❗ Please use extra caution when recreating near creeks, rivers, and ponds. Water is expected to run high and fast through August. Don’t wade in or cross moving water and keep children and pets away.
