The Salt Lake County Map Book App was created as a GIS/Mapping tool to help emergency responders navigate the county. The Map Book breaks down the county into a grid of 287 maps at a scale of 1:10,000, with every street name and corresponding coordinate labeled. We have also identified fire stations, schools, fire hydrants, campgrounds, stream crossings, railroads, gates, apartments, hospitals, canals, streams, rivers, trails, TRAX lines, parks, and open space as different layers throughout the book.
The "Grid page" will allow navigation to any map in the entire book. Just look and reference the coordinates on the side and click on the corresponding map number and it will jump to that page in the book.
On the top of each map page there is a "page guide" that lists the north, east, south, and west boundaries of each map page. You can click on the map page number and it will jump to the adjacent page.
With the new addition of the Apartment Maps you can click on any apartment with in a map page and it will link to the corresponding apartment map page, then to get back to the previous page just click on the page number, in the top left corner and it will take you back to the previous map book page.
The application also allows users to bookmark pages that are most commonly visited and pull them up on demand.
